As a philosophy student, one contemplates and debates fundamental questions that have intrigued humanity for centuries. What is the nature of human happiness? Can the claims of science and religion coincide? How can we tell truth from opinion? How can we tell right from wrong? How does science relate to other kinds of knowledge? What does it mean to say that something is beautiful? Such questions connect philosophy today to its ancient origins.
Adelphi's philosophy program centers on the history of philosophy and the application of philosophical analysis to contemporary issues. Students develop the skills of conceptual analysis, clarity of self-expression and rigor in argumentation necessary for the creative thinking that all employers value.
