Department Chair: Brian T. Wygal

Climate change. Loss of biodiversity. The search for sustainability. The Department of Environmental Studies recognizes that the issues facing the future of our planet involves an interplay of technology, culture, economics and politics. That’s why the program takes an interdisciplinary approach. Students are given a solid grounding in the natural and social sciences and then allowed to focus on the areas they wish to pursue. And there are opportunities to participate in extensive research here on the shores of Long Island or as far away as Australia or Alaska.
